You wen do hard kine stuffs and you no count um. Dat not modesty, and worth looking at straight dis morning, before da day get loud. Get one desk, one window, and da regular kine business of one room where somebody stay work. All da proof you need stay already behind you.

One pen you no use fo a while. Dust stay turning ova in one shaft of light by da shelf. One notebook wit three pages used and da rest stay waiting. Someplace one car start bad den start.

Every time you handle someting hard you file um as luck, timing, or one lower bar than um wen look. Da next hard ting den come to one person wit no record of eva handling one before. Dis wat dat do: confidence stay built from da evidence you remember, so when you throw out da evidence you stay stuck at da beginning no matta how much you wen actually survive. Dat not humility. Humility stay one accurate view of yourself, and dis stay one systematically inaccurate one dat happen to point down.

Run your own standard both ways. You would neva let one friend explain away four hard years as one run of good luck; you would call dat one distortion, gentle kine, and you would be right. Put dat on your own file and da picture not flattering, um just stay correct. What you call luck was mostly you stay dea on one bad day, ova and ova, when leaving was one option. Dat da least glamorous and most reliable proof get, and you da only one refusing fo look at um.

So today three of dem go on paper. Three hard kine things you already wen do, write um plain, no qualifiers and no explaining how dey was easier than dey wen look. Read da list once, slow kine, den put um someplace you goin find um on one bad week, not someplace all tidy.

You no stay starting from nothing. You wen just been keeping da books bad kine for years, and da corrected version stay one way betta read than what you stay expecting.
