When you finish the line "KEEP CALM AND ___", you make something. This page explains, in plain words, what permission you give us when you share it, what promises you make about it, and how you can take it back. It is part of our Terms of Use.

What you share

Your submission is the phrase you write, together with the poster it becomes: the colors, layout, translations, and any AI-generated song paired with it. Submitting it transfers ownership to KEEP CALM Inc. We can then protect a phrase that takes off, register it as a trademark, and put a song on streaming services, with every dollar going to the nonprofit's free programs. You keep a free, permanent right to use your own phrase or game idea yourself, for anything that is not competing commercial use.

The license you give us

By submitting a phrase, publishing a poster, or describing a game for us to build, you assign to KEEP CALM Inc., worldwide and for the full term of protection, all right, title and interest in your submission and in the poster, song or game built from it, including copyright and any trademark rights. Where that assignment is not legally effective, you instead grant KEEP CALM Inc. an exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence to the same effect. Either way we may:

• host, display, and share your poster on KeepCalm.org, in its gallery, and in share links and embeds;
• adapt it as needed to present it well: typesetting, sizing, color variants, and translation into the site's languages;
• reproduce it on physical products offered in our shop, and let our printing and fulfillment partners make and ship those products;
• use it in honest, non-deceptive examples of what people make here (never in a way that claims you endorse anything).

This is exclusive, and it is the part to read twice. You will not be paid, and you keep a permanent free right to use your own phrase personally, but you are giving up the right to license it commercially elsewhere. In exchange the phrase can be defended and monetized at a scale one person could not manage, and the proceeds fund free help for people who cannot pay. That is the deal, made plainly. It applies to everything submitted here, including posters and songs already made.

Taking it back

You can ask us to take your poster down at any time by emailing Contact@KeepCalm.org (include the poster link). We will remove it from the gallery and stop offering new products with it within one business day of verifying the request, and sooner when we can. Items already printed or sold, and copies other people made while it was public, are beyond recall. Where the law gives you a stronger right to withdraw consent, that right wins.

Your promises to us

Because your words may be printed on products we sell, we need these to be true when you submit:

• the phrase is yours: your own words, or material you have the right to use;
• it does not include anyone else's trademark, brand, logo, or slogan;
• it is not a lyric or line from someone else's song, book, film, or show;
• it does not use the name, likeness, or identity of any real person, famous or private, other than yourself;
• it contains no one's personal or contact information;
• you have the right to grant the license above, and doing so breaks no agreement you have with anyone else.

If a submission breaks these promises, we may remove it and any products carrying it without notice, and you are responsible for claims that result from the breach.

Attribution and moral rights

Posters display without names, so we cannot guarantee attribution, and product listings will not credit you. To the extent your law allows, you agree not to assert moral rights (such as the right to be named as author, or to object to the routine adaptations described above) against the uses this license permits. Where such rights cannot be waived, this paragraph does not apply to you.

About the songs

Songs paired with posters are AI-generated under a commercial license from our music-generation provider. They are not exclusive to you or to us, similar output may exist for others, purely AI-generated audio may not be protected by copyright at all, and they may not be uploaded to music streaming platforms.
